Named the #1 Micropolitan city in Texas by Polycom Corp., Lufkin is the largest community between Houston to the South and Tyler to the North and serves a broad service area for jobs, education, entertainment, governmental services, medical services, and retail shopping. This creates a daytime population estimated at over 100,000 and a service sector to support this size of community.

City of Lufkin, County of Angelina, State of Texas, located 120 miles North of Houston, 166 miles Southeast of Dallas, 110 miles Southwest of Shreveport.

One of the fastest growing community colleges in the state, Angelina College continues to expand through new construction and new programs.

With outstanding medical facilities and personnel, Lufkin and Angelina County have become the regional health care hub of Central East Texas. Boasting two major hospitals, a Veterans Administration outpatient clinic, various specialized treatment facilities, a hospitality house, assisted living centers, and several nursing homes, Lufkin has the reputation for excellent health care and cutting edge medical technology.

Lufkin ISD is located in the City of Lufkin. The Park Maintenance Department is responsible for maintenance and operations of 16 City of Lufkin parks, 1 trail, two community centers, two swimming pools, three Spray Plays, one recreation center, and other public areas.


The City of Lufkin is pleased to announce that we are now offering an upgraded version of Click2Gov for Customer Information System (CIS) which will provides the citizens of Lufkin the ability to pay their utility bills over a secure Internet connection using a credit card.
