Larissa Philpot-Brown is the Economic Development Director for the City of Lufkin. Her duties include business retention, expansion, and attraction, analysis of economic markets, coordination with local and state public entities, and advocating for public policy issues affecting economic development in East Texas.
Originally from Arlington, Larissa began her career with the City of Nacogdoches, and has worked in city planning and economic development for 25 years. She received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from SFA. Larissa has served on many volunteer and professional boards, including the Stephen F. Austin State University Alumni Association, the Alliance for I-69, and the Transportation Advocates of Texas. While she is not originally from East Texas, her Texas roots run deep as she is proudly a ninth generation Texan.
Larissa has long admired Lufkin’s business community and looks forward to working together to grow Lufkin and Angelina County. She joined the City of Lufkin Economic Development team in October 2025.
