Lufkin is ideally situated for
those who enjoy small town convenience with all the big city
amenities. At approximately 40,000 in population, Lufkin is the
largest community between Tyler in northeast Texas and Houston on
the Texas Coast and is conveniently equidistant to both providing
the ultimate location for the good life. Located at the junction of
Hwy’s 69 (to Tyler, Beaumont and Port Arthur) and 59 (to Houston,
Longview, and Shreveport) and bisected by El Camino Real “hwy 103”
connecting East Texas to Natchitoches and central Louisiana Lufkin
is also rich in transportation.

transportation plans will provide even better access to and from
Lufkin as it is a planned HUB of the new Trans Texas Corridor 69
project as well as a major expansion of the Hwy103 “El Camino Real
Hwy”.
Unlike
other comfortably small communities, Lufkin is also home to both
award winning mass transit and municipal Airports.
The
Brazos Transit District one
of the largest and heaviest used rural mass transit districts in the
state serves all of Lufkin and the surrounding areas and is housed
at Jennings station, a beautiful new transit station located in the
heart of historic downtown Lufkin. Jennings Station will also serve
inter and intra-state bus lines and is designed to accommodate Taxi
service in the future as needed.
Angelina Airport,Texas Department
of Transportation’s Airport of the year in 1997 continues to grow in
both capacity and use. One of the cleanest and best run small
airports in Texas, Angelina Airport is home to corporate fleets,
private planes and
military training hops and search and rescue operations alike. The
airport hosts 50 – 150 private airplanes every month at one of the
largest fly-ins in the r egion many of which come to enjoy the “best
hamburgers in Texas” at the airport café. The local Experimental
Aircraft Association comprised of some of the areas best and most
avid pilots also provide free plane rides to youngsters at each
month’s fly-ins to educate youth about the wonders or aeronautics
and help promote the next generation of pilots.
Lufkin
is also served by Industrial Rail provided by the
Angelina and Neches River Railroad with direct connection
to the Union Pacific mainline.
